About debbugs by Don Armstrong.
- BTS version numbers are now verified against policy. reportbug used to give 'N/A' for version, which could not be controlled from any BTS command.
'Source/version' version numbers are now possible.
-
'done' and 'buggy' is different.
'Found' didn't reopen a bug with 'found', but that was a bug.
-
Please send 'done' mail with Version, so that users will
receive information about which version the bug is fixed,
and why.
-
Why is my package still buggy? If it's not built on all arches, it's buggy.
419103.
glibc '2.5' was never released, '2.5-1' was.
-
you can remove 'dist=unstable' from the debbugs line, to see the old-fashioned bug view.
-
Bug has two states: 'bug fixed' or 'done'.
Fixed message doesn't affect the done state.
Fixed shouldn't be used the first time around.
Should we fix this?
In the general case people close bugs in the changelog, which works.
-
'close' does set the done state, but please don't use it,
it doesn't send message to users.
-
Q. We have the fixed tags, and other stuff, can we rationalize it?
A. I kind of inherited it so I didn't have the control over it. Fixed tag is used for NMUs currently.
-
Considering NMUs, they are the same as a normal upload now, so 'fixed' tag is not really necessary, except to
remind the maintainer about NMUs.
-
If a bug has been in fixed state for 28 days, it is
archived. If it is not to be archived, you can tag it
'stable' and it will not be archived.
-
main reason for archiving is that
cuts down number of SPAM on BTS.
Simplifies the view maintainers have, and improves the speed of page load.
-
you can now 'forcemerge', 'correct bug -- wrong bugs',
to make duplicate bugs handling much easier.
-
There is a full-text search driven with hyperestraier.
-
Q. Mailing lists reject daemon addresses (root, etc.) but BTS receives them.
This results in BTS mails not getting to mailing lists, can't we sync them?
A. We don't bounce mails currently, but we could.
-
BOF will be held at 11AM.
