On Linux systems there exist several MPI implementations, however there was no obvious way to select which implementation to use, in a well-formed manner. MPI-Chooser proposes a method where by setting an environmental variable MPICHOOSER, a user can selectively run mpirun, mpicc etc. programs transparently.
